Poppy Seed Oil is the fixed oil expressed from the seeds of Papaver somniferum (opium poppy). This lightweight vegetable oil functions as an emollient and skin-conditioning agent in cosmetic formulations, helping to soften skin feel and support barrier appearance. It is suitable for incorporation into facial serums, body lotions, hair conditioners, and massage oils.

Product Information

Incorporate into the oil phase of emulsions or anhydrous formulations. Compatible with typical cosmetic ingredients; no special pH or heating requirements beyond standard processing temperatures. 

  • Solubility: Soluble in: oils (vegetable oils, fixed oils, cosmetic esters), alcohol (likely ethanol). Dispersible in: glycerin, propylene glycol (oils generally miscible). 
  • Processing Temperature: Add at: room temperature to heated oil phase (up to 176°F/80°C).  Heat tolerance: stable in heated fat phase. Avoid: none specified. 
  • Melting Point / Form: Liquid at room temperature.
