Poppy Seed Oil

Incorporate into the oil phase of emulsions or anhydrous formulations. Compatible with typical cosmetic ingredients; no special pH or heating requirements beyond standard processing temperatures. 

• Solubility: Soluble in: oils (vegetable oils, fixed oils, cosmetic esters), alcohol (likely ethanol). Dispersible in: glycerin, propylene glycol (oils generally miscible). 
• Processing Temperature: Add at: room temperature to heated oil phase (up to 176°F/80°C).  Heat tolerance: stable in heated fat phase. Avoid: none specified.

Option 1: Leave-On Facial Oil

Use at 5% to 40% in a facial oil blend for a lightweight, quickly absorbing emollient feel and a soft, smooth finish. Add at room temperature or in a warm oil phase up to 80 degrees C.

Option 2: Body Lotion

Add at 3% to 10% to the oil phase of a body lotion to support a soft, conditioned skin feel without a heavy residue. Blend thoroughly until homogeneous.

Option 3: Massage Oil

Include at 10% to 30% in a massage or body oil to provide slip and a smooth, cushioned glide. Mix well with the other oils at room temperature.

Option 4: To Add to a Finished Base

To add poppy seed oil to a finished cosmetic product, stir it into an oil-based or anhydrous base at room temperature, or into the oil portion of a finished emulsion. Use it at a typical rate of about 2% to 10% in emulsions, or higher in body and facial oil blends. Because it is fully liquid and oil-soluble, no pre-melting or pre-dissolving is needed; simply mix thoroughly until evenly distributed. After incorporation, confirm the product is homogeneous and consistent throughout the batch.
