This gum can be added at low levels to a number of products requiring texturizing, gelling, stabilizing, suspending, film-forming, sprayability, stability, structure, or a smooth pour.

When added to formulations, Gellan Gum structures itself in such a way where it can form an apparently firm gel at a stand still, and fluid gel when agitated.

This structure allows for excellent suspension capacity and emulsion stability along with smooth, easy pouring, making it ideal for cosmetic products like shampoos and conditioners that are typically dispensed with pumps or flip cap lids.

Gellan Gum is a polysaccharide produced by the fermentation of a pure culture of Sphingomonas elodea, and is identical to the Sphingomonas elodea produced polysaccharides found naturally on several water lily varieties. In water based products, it forms a clear gel.
