Decyl Glucoside is an alkyl polyglucoside non-ionic surfactant produced by the reaction of glucose, typically from corn starch, with decyl alcohol derived from coconut and/or palm kernel oils. In formulations, it functions as a mild cleansing agent, foaming agent, and emulsifier, supporting the removal of dirt and oil while contributing to foam stability. It is commonly used in rinse-off products such as shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, baby products, and shower gels.

Product Information

Incorporate into the water phase of formulations; compatible with most surfactants. Adjust finished product pH to 5.0-7.0 due to the ingredient's high pH (11.5-12.5). No heating required; add during surfactant blending.

  • Solubility: Soluble in: water, glycerin, propylene glycol.
  • Dispersible in: vegetable oils / mineral oil.
  • Processing Temperature: Add at: water phase hot or cold (<140°F/60°C).
  • Heat tolerance: 140°F/60°C. Avoid: >140°F/60°C.
  • Melting Point / Form: Liquid at room temperature.
  • Recommended Phase: Water phase (heated or cool-down)
  • Recommended pH: Stable across pH 5.5–9.0
