Apricot Kernel Oil

Incorporate into the oil phase of emulsions. Heat if necessary, with other oils up to 70°C. Compatible across typical cosmetic pH ranges of 4.5-7.5. No special handling required.

• Solubility: Soluble in: vegetable oils, mineral oil, lipophilic solvents, ethanol (slightly). Dispersible in: glycerin, propylene glycol.  
• Processing Temperature: Add at: room temperature or oil phase (up to 140°F / 60°C).  
• Heat tolerance: max 140°F / 60°C.
• Avoid: heating above 140°F / 60°C. 
• Melting Point / Form: Liquid at room temperature (pour point -15 to 5°F / -26 to -15°C).

Option 1: Leave-On Facial Oil

Use at 5% to 100% in a facial oil blend for a lightweight, fast-absorbing emollient feel with a soft after-touch. Add at room temperature and mix thoroughly with the other oils.

Option 2: Body Lotion

Add at 3% to 10% to the oil phase of a body lotion to lend a smooth, conditioned skin feel without heaviness. Incorporate at room temperature or in a warm oil phase up to 60 degrees C.

Option 3: Hair Oil Blend

Include at 5% to 20% in a leave-on hair oil to add slip, softness, and a light, non-greasy finish. Blend gently until uniform.

Option 4: To Add to a Finished Base

To add apricot kernel oil to a finished cosmetic product, stir it gently into an oil-based or anhydrous base at room temperature, or warm both to no more than 140°F (60°C) if the base is thicker. Incorporate it at a typical use rate of about 2% to 10% in emulsions, or higher in facial and body oil blends. Because it is fully liquid and oil-soluble, no pre-melting or pre-dissolving is needed; simply mix thoroughly for even distribution. After blending, confirm the product is homogeneous, and note that this oil is compatible across the typical cosmetic pH range of 4.5 to 7.5.
