Acacia Gum (Gum Arabic) Powder (Responsibly Grown)

Disperse in the water phase prior to heating or add to cool-down phase below 40°C; pre-disperse in glycerin if needed to avoid clumping. Fully hydrate with mixing; compatible across pH 4-8. No special heating required but gentle heating to 70°C aids dispersion. 

• Solubility: Soluble in: water, alcohol (ethanol). Dispersible in: glycerin, propylene glycol (swells to viscous solution).  
• Processing Temperature: Add at: cool-down phase or room temperature.  Heat tolerance: up to 158°F / 70°C. Can disperse cold then heat to 158°F / 70°C for hydration. 
• Melting Point / Form: N/A — powder. Decomposes above 284°F / 140°C. 
• Recommended Phase: Water phase (heated) or Water phase (cool-down)

Option 1: Facial Gels & Serums (Thickening)

Use at 0.5-5% dispersed into the water phase to build viscosity and a smooth feel in gels and serums. Pre-disperse in glycerin to avoid clumping and hydrate fully with mixing; stable across pH 4-8.

Option 2: Emulsions, Lotions & Creams (Stabilizing)

Incorporate at 1-5% into the water phase to help stabilize emulsions and control viscosity. Disperse cold then gently heat to about 70 degrees Celsius to aid hydration.

Option 3: Masks & Rinse-Off Film-Formers

Add at 2-10% in peel-off masks and rinse-off systems for its film-forming character. Hydrate fully with mixing for a uniform, cohesive layer.

Option 4: To Add to a Finished Base

To add Acacia Gum Powder to a finished cosmetic product, first pre-disperse the measured powder in a small amount of glycerin or the base's water phase to prevent clumping before stirring it in, at a typical use level of about 1% to 5%. Blend it thoroughly into a water-based lotion or gel and allow it to fully hydrate with continued mixing. It is compatible across roughly pH 4 to 8, and gentle warming can aid dispersion if needed. After incorporating, confirm the product is homogeneous and lump-free and recheck the final pH and viscosity.
